North Melbourne’s community program The Huddle has made its way to Devonport.

Launched on board one of the ships that connect North’s home base to their home away from the home, it is aiming to inspire 1000 young people during an eight week “demonstration” program to “embrace lifelong learning through a range of fun and inclusive physical activities”.

“Part of it is bringing sport and physical activity in and use it as a hook to engage local communities,’’ North Melbourne midfielder and The Huddle patron Andrew Swallow said.

“We’ve had great success with it with Melbourne and it was only logical with playing games here in Tasmania that we would bring it here and Devonport is a great place to start.

“I just think it is a great way to engage the kids.”

The club has brought The Huddle to the North-West Coast in conjunction with the Devonport City Council and the Spirit of Tasmania.

More information about the program is available on North Melbourne’s website.
